Say You'll Be Mine: A Second Chance Romance (A NOLA Heart Novel Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 1,931 ratings

Laws of Engagement for dealing with an Ex:
Rule #1: Don't give into temptation for a kiss just to see if they taste the same.
Rule #2: No clothing removal. Seriously, don't take them off.

Twelve years and too many pairs of stilettos later, Shaelyn Lawrence is back where she started: New Orleans. She's returned only to take care of her grandmother, and after that? She's out, hopefully long before she sees irresistible Brady Taylor, the boy who stomped all over her heart. But when a family member approaches her for help, there's only one person she can to turn to...and he's just as infuriatingly sexy as she remembers. Oh boy.

New Orleans Detective Brady Taylor has his sights on the finish line: getting promoted to sergeant. Nothing, and no one, is getting in his way--except that he didn't prepare for her return, the girl who left him without a word. Resisting Shaelyn has never been his strong suit, and now all he can think about is stripping her out of her f*ck-me heels and kissing the lipstick off her sassy mouth. And when she asks him for help, he's forced to decide between his career and the woman he's never stopped loving.

Rule #3: Don't even think about falling in love again...

SAY YOU'LL BE MINE is the first full-length novel in the NOLA Heart series, but can be read as a standalone. If you like quirky characters, hot cops, and steamy scenes that will have you fanning your kindle, then you're in the right place. Things are about to get hot down in the Big Easy...

Loved this bitter sweet second chance romance.
Life has thrown many an obstacle in our couples way, however they added to the obstacles with their own blend of self created difficulties.
They finally sort their baggage out after a difficult journey and get the happily after the both deserve.

Some books can just be described as lovely, yes there is dirty talking steamy business going on (not all the time it’s not that sort of book) and yes you want to slap the characters occasionally, but all in all it’s a love story which will make you all mushy inside!

Second chance romance for Brady and Shaelyn. Both their grandmothers are crazy and hilarious, and both will do anything to try get them back together. Prepare to laugh, feel both their fear and appreciate their friends and family.

Shaelyn comes home to New Orleans when her grandmother tells her she's not well. It's been 12 years since she's left after she broke up with her childhood sweetheart Brady. Seeing him again, all the old feelings come flooding back. When life throws them a couple of spanners, can they overcome them or will they be torn apart again. Maria created some characters who deserve their HEA and throws us some comedy characters to keep us laughing! A must read from a great author

Shaelyn and Brady had a falling out 12 years ago. Shaelyn instead of confronting Brady just up and left. She is back in New Orleans to take care of her grandma. She hopes to not run into Brady while she is there. What will happen if they do?

I enjoyed the story. Brady was a great character. He has a job which he is trying to get a big promotion. He is a hard worker and loyal to those he loves. I really did not care for Shaelyn. She just seemed so indecisive on what she wanted. I did enjoy the banter between Brady and Shaelyn. She did finally grow on me as the story got going. I enjoyed the grandmother's of these too. They had love/hate relationship which was so funny. I love how these ladies came together for a common goal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Muy muy divertida

Me he reído muchísimo con ella.
Es un libro con grandes dosis de humor y también momentos muy muy sexys.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magic!
Reviewed in Australia on 2 May 2017
Maria Luis is an amazing new author! I had previously read her novella “Power Play”, and based on how much I had enjoyed it I had seriously high expectations of this one – and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. I really loved this book!
Yes, it has all the usual elements of a second chance at love story – but even so it is not at all predictable; the story having so many twists and turns that no one could ever see coming.
Shaelyn and Brady as the lead characters are likeable, well written and extremely real: but both focussed on very different things. Shaelyn wants nothing more than to ‘fix’ her grandmother’s life, so as she can leave town get back to her own. Brady is focussed on his career – determined to gain a promotion – and prepared to cut everything but work from his life in order to achieve that goal. But then their paths cross again – and despite all their best efforts it would seem that all those well laid plans may well fly out of the window.
But even though each time Shaelyn and Brady cross paths their energy simply sizzles, misunderstandings and past hurts seem destined to keep them apart - neither of them able to quite forgive or forget. Will they take a second chance on each other? Can we expect smooth sailing ahead? What fun would that be? And this book is nothing if not fun.
But steamy sex scenes alone would not be enough to make this story great – that element comes from all the secondary characters who each bring their own unique attributes into the mix: meddling grandmothers; a crazy neighbour; a cranky boss (Brady’s) a supportive cousin/boss (Shaelyn’s); wacky friends you can’t help but wish were your own - and then there is Julian, a 13 year old with heart, who you want so badly to have a happy ending!
Mix all these ingredients together and the end result is simply magic!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a fun read and very well done!

I got hooked on Maria Luis' writing when I read an introductory chapter of this book. I have been waiting quite impatiently for it to become available so I could read it in its entirety, and was thrilled with the opportunity to read an Advanced Readers Copy in exchange for an honest review.

It did not disappoint! At times funny, at times a little sad, you will feel for the characters as they go through the ups and downs of finding their way back to each other. Maria has a knack for writing supporting characters that get your attention, add humor and have depth themselves. The Incomparable Georgette Heyer is well known for this, and Maria will certainly keep going in that vein as she continues her writing career, I'm sure. Shae and Brady's grandmothers are a hoot, especially Shae's grandmother. Brady's neighbor is another funny addition.

I think Shae's cousin needs her own story (hint, hint) and Luke could use his own story too ... Danvers intrigued me and I'd like to see a bit more of him down the road. Since this is the first in a series, I can honestly say I will read more by Maria Luis.

This is a fun read and very well done! Looking forward to more books from this talented new author!

This book was a first for me by this author and while I loved her writing style. The banter between characters was really great and the grandmothers had me giggling a time or two especially Shaelynn's.
I just couldn't connect with Shaelynn and not did I want to. I mean she kept building up her anxiety and I was like wow! Her secret is going to be AWESOME! I could wait for the big reveal this just were KILLING me! Like ugh is it this, ohhh I bet it's this. Then when it was revealed I was like really girl that's what is making you doing yourself! That is what makes you not truly love who you're. THAT! that come on. Her secrets truly didn't feel like that big of a deal. I wish she would have told her parents to bug off but she didn't. She internalized every horrible thing they said to her and I really couldn't see past that. I made me want to skip over large parts of the lol to get to the HEA. To see the self growth in Shaelynn. Which does happen.
The story overall is very good the flow is good. And the supporting characters are a hoot.
