Joshua Dawson is my best friend's ex-boyfriend. That alone should be reason enough for me to keep my distance. Add in that he's a well mannered, loyal, hardworking artist and I should be running in the other direction.

He's damn near perfect, and I prefer my men hard to love and easy to leave. Josh's only flaw is he wants forever, and for the first time I might want the same. But loving someone doesn’t mean you deserve them.

He's all I want and everything I can't have.

This is a full length standalone friends to lovers romance.

Canvas is book six in the Quake series by Jacob Chance. You can either read this book as part of The Complete Quake Series Box Set or as an individual book. This is the last book of the series. Josh and Elle have been dancing around each other all through this series and it is finally their turns for their happy ever after. This is kind of a friends to enemies to lovers romance.

Josh Dawson is the ex-boyfriend and now close friend to Janny and also to the rest of the group. Through Janny he met her closest friend, Elle. They have been friends for about five years. There was a time when he and Elle would hang out, binge watch TV and just enjoy each other’s company. But recently, everything seemed to change. Josh started to feel more when he was around Elle and he couldn’t stand to see the way she was with other men. They started to taunt each other, to argue just for the sake of aggravating each other. Josh misses what they used to be but at the same time, he wants more than that now.

Josh is a very talented artist. He paints but he also has been apprenticing as a tattoo artist. What better way to use his artistic ability than to put his work on client’s skin?!

Elle Johnson loves seeing her two closest friends so happy in love. But she knows that will never be for her. Especially with Josh. He is a good man, a man that wants a relationship with a woman he can be proud of. That woman can never be her. So she fills her nights with meaningless sex. She and Josh can’t even seem to be in the same room anymore without riling each other up. But then “the kiss” happened when they were in Vegas for Derek and Kenna’s wedding. It was the best kiss she has ever experienced. And she knows it can never happen again because Josh deserves more than she can ever give him. Elle has secrets and Josh should run, not walk, as far away from her as he can get.

“If I could custom order a woman for myself she’d look exactly like Elle. Every single inch of her is perfection.”

It was almost painful to watch these two with each other, the horrible things they said to one another just to cover up how they felt. Josh, I believe, felt things on a much larger scale then some people. He recognized that his feelings for Elle were deep but also that she didn’t want what he did. He should move on but he just can’t. Same with Elle. She knows Josh is a good guy, too good. She doesn’t want to bring him down with her burdens.

The rest of this series I would classify as romantic suspense. But not so much this one. This book just focused on the tough road Josh and Elle had to travel to finally figure out their feelings. I really have enjoyed the last few days and getting to know this group of characters. I feel like Josh and Elle were a good couple to wrap things up with. This series will most definitely not be the last thing I read of Jacob’s.

5 Stars to Canvas by Jacob Chance.

Josh & Elle.......

I loved this book! I love this cover! Everything about this book was creative. The writing flows well as it always does with this author. I thought there was great chemistry and tension between Josh and Elle. In addition, they are characters that you easily fall in love with. I admit to wondering about my like for Elle at the beginning but once I got into her perspective, I knew she was a strong likable heroine.

Josh and Elle have known each other since college. We actually get to meet them in Quake & Quiver, which are interconnected books. I also loved that in Canvas we get to see what the other friends have been up to.

Josh and Elle started as friends but during the past several months, their friendship began to develop into more. There was scorching chemistry and a ton of sexual tension around them. Unfortunately there were issues you'll read about that did not bring them together smoothly. But when they finally came together, it was beautiful, believable and so hot.

There is some light suspense; enough to give your heart that little kick of panic. But it didn't drag on and it was handled well. At least I thought it was a perfect resolution.

Another point I'd like to add was how perfectly this book's cover depicted the story. We all love covers and for a lot of people, they are the true selling point. However, as sexy as our favorite covers are, they don't always paint the perfect picture of the story. In fact, Canvas has one of my favorite covers of the year!

I absolutely recommend this book. It is a standalone so you don't have to read the interconnected books to follow. However, for your entertainment I recommend you do.

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. :)

If you have read any of Author Jacob Chance's previous books (Quake, Quiver, Delve, Delude), you'll see some familiar faces in this one. And if you haven't, no worries at all. Jacob has done a fantastic job of including any details you might possibly need in order to read this book as a standalone. I will say, though, if this is your first Jacob Chance book, you're in for a treat. And you'll probably end up going back to read all those previous books, anyway.

The book starts off with an incident five years before the rest of the story takes place. Although it only takes a moment, this event will be crucial to the underlying tension in the plot.

Main character, Josh Dawson, is a good guy. Legitimately. He's sweet and kind, he always attempts to do the right thing and he has dinner with his grandma all the time. His dad and older brother belong to an MC called the Bastards, but Josh is able to stay out of that life AND keep up a relationship with both of them. I mean, he's got a freaking tattoo of Lord Byron poem for god's sake. With an artist's soul, and a boy scout personality, it is all too easy to underestimate him- in a whole lot of ways.

Elle Johnson is gorgeous, independent, and an absolute bitch to Josh. Former friends, something has gone rotten in between them. And while Josh silently pines after her, she loudly and publicly criticizes him.

But the thing about Josh Dawson, is that he's a Sleeper Alpha. On the outside he seems all polite and gentlemanly, but get this guy at tuxedo bowtie? You better believe he knows how to use it. He ambushes Elle, brings out that caveman side, and Elle doesn't know what's hit her. And once that secret is out of the bag, she just can not stuff it back in. So now she wants him. Badly. But Elle's past and upbringing are pretty much something out of an actual nightmare. And they've jaded her so much that she doesn't want to ever let her heart get involved in a relationship. Nor does she want Josh ever exposed to that past. So she bolts.

And Josh turns his focus toward opening his tattoo shop. (Oh and growing a super sexy beard...) And completing some paintings. And trying, desperately, to move on from Elle.

They ignore each other until they just can't anymore (after all they share the same group of friends) and that build up of feelings and sexual tension just explodes. And it *almost* seems like things are going to work out smoothly after all for these friends, turned enemies, turned lovers. But the past doesn't always stay there and Elle's comes back with a vengeance.

What choices will be made in the name of love? Does hiding something from someone under the guise of protecting them equal love? Will Josh and Elle ever be able to bury their pasts and is there a happily ever after in their future? Will the Canvas of their lives be dark and black, tinged with the red of pain? Or can they paint themselves a new Canvas filled with light and love?

Oh, and remember that incident in the beginning? Keep it in mind.

Jacob Chance continues to grow and improve in his writing style and ability with each book. His characters have depth. The story moves along well. The supporting characters play an important role, but don't overtake the spotlight. And I'm sure fans of the earlier books will be glad to get this little sneak peek into their lives. You will love to hate Elle and then your heart will break for her and you'll just love her. You'll swoon over Josh. And you'll be thankful to Jacob Chance for writing a story with heart, artistry, soul and meaning.

This is just my second book by Jacob Chance, after reading Penalty, a sports-related story earlier this year.  Two books so different from each other – yet I found similarities in the writing.  If I must rate, Canvas wins the prize — only because it carries a deeper theme.  Speaking of prizes, this cover is award-winning!  While we’re on the subject, there is one particular part of the story that is reflected in the cover that makes it even more meaningful and relevant.

The Prologue begins the story five years in the past, where readers get a quick peek into an incident that marks and connects it to the present-day plot.  When histories collide, any hope for a happily-ever-after may be in jeopardy.

He loves her — she doesn’t want to love him.

I suffered a bit from loving to hate Elle Johnson until I became a little more invested in her story.  She is beautiful but bitchy — and she directs that bitchiness straight at Joshua Dawson.  As Elle’s story unfolds, my heart broke for her.  Not long after, I was in her corner cheering with all my might for her happiness.  A victim of a disturbing past, Elle’s upbringing has left her cynical and secretive.  Elle is somewhat of a man-eater.  She sexes ‘em and leaves ‘em!  No permanent ties for her.  Sadly, she has built a wall around her heart.  And it’s not only to protect herself, but Josh as well.  She feels unworthy of his love and cares too deeply to involve him in her sordid past.   When her past raises its ugly head once again, Elle’s nightmares arrive with a vengeance, and she does the only thing she knows how to do — she takes a powder.

Of course, Josh made it easy to fall head-over-heels in love with him at the first meet and greet.  An artist by trade, he’s an all-around good guy – for real – the boy scout variety who dines with his grandma regularly.  And he’s looking for the real deal – a happy home with a white-fence wrapped around it and, at the center, the woman of his dreams.  But don’t be fooled by this description alone, because underneath lies another layer to Josh — a dominant side and he definitely knows how to use it.  He has had struggles of his own in the past.  His dad and older brother are members of a gang called the Bastards.  With the help of his grandma, Josh has stayed clear of that lifestyle — even while sharing a relationship with both father and brother.

Canvas is a standalone frenemies-to-lovers trope that is extremely well-written.  Although characters from previous books appear here, the author does a phenomenal job of presenting these characters who share friendship and family ties.   I assure you they won’t cause the slightest ripple in your comfort zone.

This book has so many elements – enemies to lovers, ghosts of the past, finding oneself — just to name a few — and each element is woven together perfectly.  Everything links back to a gripping story, told through wonderful characters.  It’s such an incredible love story!  Jacob Chance did a masterful job with all the characters, especially Elle and Josh.  There is so much emotion in these characters.  The story is a creative piece of art with a natural ebb and flow in the writing.

Jacob Chance is a creative genius at writing sexual tension.  The heat is palatable. The passion is scorching. The connection is tangible.  This is a book that covers multiple layers of life and romance. Interesting, intriguing, and enjoyable to the end, the story has enough grit, plenty of raw emotion and passion to satisfy the romance lover in anyone.  An emotionally charged novel that you can lose yourself in — with a surprising twist of suspense — and one that will not be forgotten.

Both author and book get a strong recommendation from me.

Totally worth using my remaining Kindle battery to read (because I am still waiting for my lights to be turned back on after hurricane "Irma"). Josh and Elle definitely had a bumpy road before everything worked out for them. Josh is so sweet and so perfect. Its hard to believe he is only a book character. Jacob Chance has raised the bar (again) with his writing and I wish I could give this book way more than 5 stats.

I received an ARC of this book for honest review.

4 unexpected stars

Jacob chance has this uncanny ability to write books that are so very different from one another that it still amazes me. One can be a thriller, the next a suspense , some a second chance and some so very hot and erotic that the only thing you can do is sit back and enjoy the show while hoping you don't lose your mind (in a good way) along the way! I'm not exactly sure what i was expecting or hoping for when it came to Canvas, but boy was it a story that i absolutely enjoyed.

4 breath taking dreams

This author has a way of making scenes both incredibly hot and beautiful! If nothing else, Canvas is the type of book that will give you the best excuse to simply sit outside and forgo any and all responsibilities as you follow Elle and Joshua battle it out in denying their need for forever. If there's another thing this author does very well, it's make you believe that his characters are real - they could be your brother, friend, neighbor or even a stranger across the street, but no matter what, they are so very real and i could feel it no problem whatsoever. Jacob Chance is one of those authors that you need to grab his books and get lost in it because you won't be disappointed that's for sure.

Josh that sexy, kind, soft hearted soul will have you painting your own Canvas in no time. He is such a great guy in every way. He loves his friends, his family, and Elle Johnson.
Elle is walking around with some baggage and not really feeling the "love" aspect of of being with a guy. She knows she can't stay away from Josh, but she tries...ohhhh does she try.
These two finally go at it and you think all is good, but then Elle does what Elle does...she runs away.
Josh is very patient and understand...he has his eyes on the prize, but a man can only hold out for so long before he goes crazy.
Loved the story line and the snarky back and fourth between them. I loved that we got to catch up with some other characters from some of the other stories of Jacob's that I loved.

Canvas is by far my favorite book yet. Josh and Elle's story has completely blown me away, from the first few paragraphs I'm on the edge of my seat captivated with the events unfolding. Josh is the kind of man you'd want to have as a friend and if your fortunate enough more, he's an incredibly talented artist and the type of man that will stand by your side no matter what. Elle has secrets that we're not made completely aware of right away but as they come to light you will be shocked and so proud of her at the same time for the woman she has become. The story has been written with such passion and intensity that you feel as though you've experienced it yourself and reliving the memories. I have been through a whirlwind of emotions with tears of both sadness and absolute joy and then become all hot and bothered wishing I could be in that very moment. This is a standalone but if you have read Jacob Chance's previous books you'll love seeing all the characters come together once more, we're experiencing the friendship and family shared between them as we take the journey with Josh and Elle. When you finish those last few words and just say "WOW, that was one helluva story" before you close the book you know that the author has done a phenomenal job. I cannot rave enough about this story this is a must read without a second guess. One click your copy! This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

While you will meet some characters from previous novels, Canvas is a full-length standalone romance novel.
Joshua - Josh - Dawson is a good guy. He´s well mannered, a successful artist and wants a forever with picket fence life.

Elle is a good friend of his ex- girlfriend and nothing like what he craves.
She should be running far and fast, but the heart wants what the heart wants. She´s a man eater.
They´re friends since college and he loves her. She doesn´t want to love him.
" But loving someony doesn´t mean you deserve them. " And that´s the crux for Elle. She thinks of herself unworthy.
They´re between a rock and a hard place.
Like every other Jacob Chance book is Canvas extremely well written, The story is unique and the characters are great.
I read this book in one sitting, I couldn´t put it down. I give 5 stars, thank you, Jacob Chance!

HUGE FAN OF JACOB BUT MY REVIEW IS DEFINITELY HONEST BECAUSE THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING!

If you thought that cover of this book was sexy, beautiful and the most epic cover you have seen, then let's just say that the cover fits the book because I freaking LOVED this book! Jacob always knows how to grab you and pull you into a story and if you weren't already curious about Josh from the other books, that's okay because it explained everything you needed to know about Josh and his friends (that pertained to his story). Now I wasn't a big fan of Josh from the other books because he was in the background and he was the ex-boyfriend that was way too into the girl who wasn't into him....but that's another story.

Josh is an artist who had some struggles growing up but it wasn't anything he couldn't handle with the help of his grandmother. Josh is sexy, talented, a gentleman, and so very swoon worthy. I was a little confused at first why the heck he wasn't just jumping in and banging the crap out of this girl but after some consideration (and more reading...lol) I realized what the issue was and I not only felt sorry for Josh but also Elle.

Elle is best friends with Josh and Janny and things have changed between the trio since Janny has found Kyle and are going to be tying the knot soon. Elle has a past of her own that she doesn't bring up and likes to party with a different guy because relationships aren't for her.

What happens when "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" doesn't always stay in Vegas?

I loved everything about Josh in this book and the fact that he is an artist and the things he does with his hands all women will be dreaming about after this one! I wasn't a big fan of Elle but that's only because I didn't really understand where she was coming from or why she did the things she did, but I did grow to like her. I have a favorite part and I don't want to tell too much but when you get to the part oh man will you just know why I love this cover even more because of that.

Jacob, you are so very talented and I love how much you grow with every book you write and how things develop through your characters. Thank you for giving me this amazing opportunity to be apart of your career and help promote you and these amazing books!!

Another great book by Jacob Chance!
I have read and enjoyed all of Jacob's books but Canvas is by far my all time favorite. If you have read any of Jacob's other books you will recognize some of the characters. Josh is a gentleman with an alpha side that is super SEXY. He is super sweet and will never lie to you and when he says something he means it. Elle is a super sweet girl who is afraid to let her walls down. You must read this great friends to lovers romance story.

Canvas by Jacob Chance
What can I say? Jacob has provided readers with a tattoo bad boy that is protective of what’s his. I found this book frustrating to read purely because I wanted to slap both the characters upside the head and tell them to wake up!!!!!! This book mentions some or our beloved characters and places (Quake) from Jacob’s other creations.
When the book starts (prologue), we meet Josh Dawson walking through the streets at night with insomnia. He witnesses a scene in an alley where a young woman is being manhandled by her date. Josh steps in to help but the guy gets away and the women runs away. Little does Josh know but he will be seeing her again.
Josh grows up and 5 years later he has become a tattoo hottie artist who is good friends with Elle Johnson. The scene brings us to Derek and Kenna’s wedding in Las Vegas where both our main characters are part of the wedding party. Josh is an artist that has been commissioned for a few pieces but is looking to open a tattoo shop. As for Elle she works in the finance world and doesn’t have much contact with her family.
From the very beginning you get a sense that these characters have a chemistry that everyone sees but them. Josh has dreams for the future and is hoping to find the right girl to share it with. While he is struggling with his family and their affiliation with an MC gang. Josh wants to stand on his own and make his own way but when his father offers him a start for his tattoo shop will he take it?
When Elle and Josh are together we get to read about what they are thinking and the feelings that they are harboring for each other. They both feel the other one can do better and shouldn’t get involved with each other. Why would that be? What secrets could possibly hold these two back? All excellent question…..you are just going to have to read to find out.
I will give you a snippet……..Elle’s past life causes her issues that put both of their lives in danger. Will she make the right choice and will they get a HEA?
This book provides the reader with all the elements we have grown to love. The hot bad boy and the mysterious women. There is mystery, fighting, intrigue, love, lust and a general sense of hotness throughout the book. Sappy right? Well it was fun to read and I encourage you to pick it up to read.

The cover is not the only thing amazing about this book! Josh and Elle's story is one phenomenal journey as I knew it would be. I love all of Jacob's books but he has knocked it out of the park with this one.

This is a standalone but if you have read his previous books, you remember Josh and Elle. Josh was amazing to me. Perfect really. On the one hand, you have this swoony dirty talker that is all alpha. Then on the other, you have this kindhearted and caring artist. It's perfection all wrapped in one plus the hot body.

Elle. I liked Elle a lot. She was strong, caring and beautiful. She didn't give herself enough credit for her strength, but her past played a part in that. She kept believing that she wasn't worthy of true happiness....that is until Josh came along and stirred all the feelings.

I adored Josh and Elle's journey together and taking a chance on happiness. I loved the funny moments, the suspenseful situations and the hot as hell steamy sexy time. The chemistry they had just made the story awesome. It's also always nice to have the other characters from the other stories to jump in. I love that.

This is most definitely a must read and I highly recommend it to everyone, along with all of Jacob Chance's other books. Cheers to big 5 stars!

Mr. Chance has once again written a phenomenal book that will leave you with a smile on your face and have your heart soaring once you're finished. True to his writing style, the book is the perfect combination of close playful friendships, sexy encounters and edge of your seat suspenseful moments.

We’ve met Josh and Elle in earlier storylines from Mr. Chance. If you’ve kept up with his works you know these two have a love/hate on/off relationship. Cavas will not only explain their history but continues on into present day. Sadly they are still in the same yo-yo relationship but their is hope on the horizon due to a fun filled night after Janny and Kyle’s wedding! But will it continue or will the past rear it’s ugly head and leave these two staring at the blank canvas of their lives. Can they make it work or are they destined to go through life wondering what if?

I loved this story and Josh is an amazing gentleman through and through, even considering the “bad boy” in him who he lets out to play from time to time. I found myself wishing for Josh to find someone worthy of him and all he has to offer and if I do say so myself, Mr. Chance has done Josh and this amazing book proud. 2 Thumbs Up!

Reviewed on behalf of Reading Through Her Eyes blog.

This book is a standalone however, you do see characters from previous books (Quake, Quiver, Delve, Tied and Delude) as supporting characters. In this book we get to see more of Josh and Elle, who have a love-hate relationship. Elle who is always full of Snark, Josh is an Alpha when he needs to be and where it counts. Joshua Dawson makes you fall in love with him, you just can't help it.

Overall Thoughts: This book has exceeded my expectations and Jacob Chance has blown his previous work out of the water with this one. It is well worth the waiting and the teasing of this one! Mr. Chance knows how to write sexual tension better than anyone else and his books are filled with them, this book is no different. It's written in a way to keep you turning the page to keep reading with the right amount of sexiness, sweetness and suspenseful. If I could give it more than a 5 star rating I would, and I highly recommend this book!

OMG! (That's how I start all of my Jacob Chance reviews!) if I could give a higher rating I would!! Jacob sure does have a way with words! He literally brings his characters to life with every beautifully detailed word. Each scene written comes to life right off the pages and plays before your eyes. Like most of Jacob's books, Canvas takes you on an emotional rollercoaster! I was irritated, angry, laughed a little and even cried! Josh and Elle come from two very different backgrounds but share mutual friends. Josh is a kind hearted lovable man that every woman would die to call her own..but he doesn't want them...He only has eyes for one damaged woman who can't stand to be in the same room as him. Is it disgust or an unavoidable attraction? One-click now!!! You will not be disappointed!

Canvas by Jacob Chance was a hawt surprise! It had a little of everything. I was mad then glad then impatient, devouring the book. But as I read, I could not put this book down. I fell in love with Josh, thought I was Elle and went on a fabulous ride as I was inside the world of Canvas living every page. Emotionally packed, without a doubt Canvas is another 5-Star masterpiece by Mr. Chance, who's books keep getting better and greater. You must read this book, the story is phenomenal and well, so are the hawt, sexy scenes, you will not regret buying Canvas and you'll become a fan of the author!

Wow! There are no words that could possibly explain how much I love this book! Jacob Chance is a new to me author, I feel an emotional connection with the two characters in this book. Jacob Chance has created a very well thought out story with loveable characters. This book is well worth the wait if you're a Jacob Chance fan. If you're new to his books like I am, you will not be disappointed with Canvas!
Like with all books there are parts we hate and parts we absolutely love, this book as a whole is well worth the emotional rollercoaster ride as you read!!!!

I can already hear all the hoots and hollers from all the ladies when Jacob Chance fans reintroduce themselves with Joshua Dawson. I became so nerdy happy when I figured out this was Josh and Elle's story, I didn't want to put my kindle down.

We are introduced to Josh Dawson in Quake, Quiver, Delve and Delude. He is an ex boyfriend and a supporting character in those stories as the good guy, best friend and dependable person. He had a mystery to him that left me interested. I have to say Jacob Chance did not disappoint me. I love Josh's sweet, dominate, determined, and loving side. All those qualities made him so sexy and to top it off- he is an artist who also tattoos. His only fault is falling for his ex-girlfriends best friend. With Elle not reciprocating his feelings, Josh throws himself into opening up a tattoo shop. Will losing  himself in his art and new shop be enough to help him forget about the girl that is always on his mind?

Elle Johnson comes off with this sexy and bitchy exterior, she is an independent beautiful woman. Since college it has always been her best friend Janny, Josh and Elle, somewhere along the way the sexual tension between Josh and Elle turned their relationship into feeling awkward around each other and they would come off as enemies. Elle thought pushing Josh away would be in his best interest, which only intensified the connection they have. Will Elle's past and the secrets she's keeping be enough to scare Josh away?

Canvas is one very hot and sexy read, the sexual tension and love is felt off of the pages. By the end of the story, I felt as if "my cup runneth over". I was one satisfied reader, as always Chance gave me a story with Canvas that kept me interested with a little mystery and action that I love.  It is a friends to lovers  romance that will have you swooning and wanting that HEA for these two characters. I give this a 5 Star read that will have you adding Josh Dawson to your book boyfriends list.

Canvas is another carefully crafted love story by Jacob Chance. This is Josh & Elle's rocky and frustrating love/hate relationship. Although we met them both in Quake, Canvas can still be read as a standalone. I do recommend reading the other books in the series just to get background, but it is not necessary. (Also, read them because they are fantastic must reads!!)

I loved Elle & Josh because they were soooo not your typical couple. Their story was uniquely theirs. They started off as great friends, then turn to enemies, eventually to lovers.... Poor Josh had whiplash. Damn Elle kept switching up on him. One minute she hated him, next she wanted him.. Her animosity towards him, confused and hurt him. Seems Elle had demons she needed to slay and Josh was just a causality of her internal battle... He was too sweet, too caring and too good for Elle. Everything she loved and hated about him. Plus, his freaking persistence. What's this girl to do?? Here's this perfect guy laying it all out there, but she doesn't feel worthy... I really wanted to shake Elle and Josh!! Wake up!! I loved all their frustration and sexual tension. The gang from the other books were present in this one and only enhanced it further. I loved seeing what they were all up to... Canvas was a captivating read that totally held my attention from start to finish!

Well...this was a great introduction to Jacob Chance and his books. I can say with absolute certainty I will go and read his backlist. I was that impressed with this book.
Mr Chance crafted a beautiful romance of two friends that went to enemies and then to lovers. I can honestly say that is a tough one to pull off and pull it off he did. I loved Josh and Elle!
Congrats Mr Chance you've just earned yourself a new fan. ❤️

The much anticipated new release from Jacob Chance is his best book yet!

If you have read any of Jacob’s earlier work you may remember Josh and Elle, as they show up in several of his books. Don’t worry if you haven’t though, it isn’t necessary in order to follow their story. (I would recommend reading the earlier books as they are all great.)

Josh and Elle have known each other for years through Janny who is Elle’s best friend and Josh’s ex-girlfriend. They start out as friends, but something between them changes, causing strange new feelings to creep in and their friendship to become awkward and strained.

Josh is a sweet as can be artist with a heart of gold and an alpha side he keeps hidden most of the time. Elle is beautiful, smart, and jaded when it comes to love due to a past relationship that went terribly wrong, preferring short meaningless relationships to anything serious.

Josh is falling for Elle, and she for him, but because of her past Elle doesn’t think she is good enough to be with him. This causes her to act cold and sarcastic toward Josh in order to push him away. Even with Elle trying to sabotage their connection, their chemistry is undeniable and the amount of sexual tension between them is epic.

They finally give in to their feelings and attempt to be together and things go great for a while, until Elle’s past comes between them causing her to make a difficult choice. Stay with the man she is falling in love with, risking his reputation, or give him up to protect him? You’ll have to pick up a copy of the book to find out.

Josh and Elle’s frenemies to lovers relationship had so many ups and downs, twists and turns, that sometimes I didn’t know which way I was going, but I loved every minute of it.

Jacob continues to grow as an author with each new book. His characters are always well written and his stories well thought out. He is fast becoming a master of sexual tension.

I received an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Canvas by Jacob Chance is Josh and Elle’s story. The tension and chemistry between these two has been heating up and it’s about to blow over! This is a standalone book, but is about characters introduced in previous books. It can be enjoyed on its own.

Josh, Elle and Janny were the best of friends. Josh and Janny may have dated previously, but they were better friends than lovers. As time went on, Josh was drawn to Elle. She was tough as nails, strong and independent, but there was a vulnerable side to her as well. I loved Josh, he was strong, determined and an alpha in a very understated kind of way.

Due to a previous relationship that scarred Elle and her almost non-existent relationship with her father, she learned early on not to trust men. She enjoyed men and had a healthy sex life, but was determined to avoid relationships at all costs. But as time went on, her attraction to Josh could no longer be ignored, though she knew in her heart she was not good for him.

After months of the push and pull between Josh and Elle, things were getting ready to explode between them. The once good friends could barely be in each other presence. But once the fireworks exploded, could they find a way to be together or will it lead to the end of them completely?

I loved seeing Josh and Elle finally have their chance. There was so much chemistry between them, even as both denied what was happening. Their journey was not easy, but seeing them grow together was heartwarming. This was another great read from Jacob Chance.

Josh Dawson…WOW! Where in the HELL did he come from?! #SleeperAlpha is right!!! You get bits and pieces of Josh in Jacob’s other books, but this time you get the full meal deal, and he doesn’t disappoint! Every now and then it’s great to see the “nice guy” win! On the surface and from the little snippets we got of him before, he is the “nice guy” and you know how the old saying goes…”nice guys finish last.” Well turns out that not only is Josh a nice guy, patient, caring and all those things, but he’s also a tatted up “bad boy” and all round dirty talker that makes you want to drop you panties at the mere mention of him! Elle hit the jackpot with him, two for the price of one shall we say?!

Jacob certainly cranked up the hot n’ steamy a notch or two and there is one scene in particular, you’ll know it when you read it, that left my glasses steamed up, and me hot n’ bothered, begging for more!

Loved Canvas and can’t wait to see what else Jacob has up his sleeve!

4.5 stars!!! Working my way through Jacob's backlist of books and was excited for this one. Not only is the cover drop dead gorgeous, but I had heard great things about this read. Elle and Josh's relationship was one of friends, enemies, lovers and everything in between. I thoroughly enjoyed their journey and the tension, angst and chemistry that they shared. Well done, Jacob!

Canvas...the cover! Ooh my, it's perfectly fitting to a story dedicated to Joshua Dawson and Elle Johnson whom we met on several occasions in previous workings and includes some other favourite characters, especially a glimpse of my book boyfriend Kyle McKenzie that had me swooning all over again. That being said, I so have a secret soft spot for Josh.

Sweet dependable Josh has been harbouring some feelings for Elle for some time, but they seem to rub each other up the wrong way when they're in one another's presence. Joshua met Elle via his best friend Janny who he had a brief fling with, but she's now happily married to Kyle and he knows that it was never meant to be. Josh is a very talented artist and is busy getting his tattoo parlour business off the ground. Everything in his life seems to be falling into place except for the one thing or rather... the one girl he wants, Elle. Josh is a really good guy, but I detected some hidden depths within him and was intrigued to learn about his background considering the kind of gentle soul he is.

Elle Johnson. Wow, this young lady certainly thinks so little of herself! She has equally deep feelings for Josh but is afraid that she's not worthy of him; like she doesn’t deserve some happiness. Elle sells herself short and I think that is why she's previously just hooked up with guys. But josh is different. He sees her and that scares Elle. She does nothing but try to push him away. Elle is hard-working, beautiful and sassy and wants Josh despite of her inner turmoil.

Will these two finally give in to their feelings and decide to give it ago? I really hoped so because the abundance of chemistry and the deep connection they have enthralled me. And I most certainly couldn't argue that they'd make a steamy duo if they were able to pull it off. Theirs is a story overflowing with suspense and the edge of your seat curveball thrown my way simply made me think nothing about it was cut and dry. I always wondered why Elle was lacking in self-confidence; however, I got to discover the reasons when the past catches up.

Yet again, I was treated to a well-written flawless story full of romance, mystery and the steaminess in it literally bowled me over. This book isn’t just about hot scenes though. It's so much more, giving the reader a bigger insight into the lives of Josh and Elle. The dual narrative couldn't have been better as I like to know what each and everyone is thinking and in this story, there's never a dull moment. The angst in Canvas is as such that at times all I wanted to do was bang their heads together; nonetheless, I had endless faith in their creator. Would the author be able to make things right in my anticipation to find out what was in store for his protagonists? Mentioned earlier, we get a to meet up with characters from other books where Elle and josh appeared briefly. Canvas can be read a standalone as it gives us a whole lot more. Mr Chance is one of my favourite authors as he manages to entertain, captivate and one thing is for sure, his storytelling got me flipping the pages!

You know those books that leave you speechless. Books that make you feel, everything, every emotion. the characters inspire you and most of all, the story itself. A book that moves you profoundly because its so well written, the aren't enough words any words that can describe how profoundly the book has affected you... Yes, that type of book that has you struggling to write a simple review because all you can focus on is how the book made you feel.

Yes, that type of book. Canvas is exactly that type of story. I was impatiently awaiting this one and Jacob Chance exceeded all of my expectations, delivering a story that makes you feel so many things all at one.

Canvas IS a Masterpiece for many reasons, but the main one is the indisputable colours that entertwine together. Whether it's the characters, Elle and Josh- The Shadows and Light shades that keep the equilibrium ravishing your heart throughout the story... Or the story itself- a remarkable friends to lovers (tinged with a hint of bitter sweet moments) feeds the soul. You can't escape the intense emotions that Canvas raises in you. I love both Joshua and Elle. They're intense, defined, you feel them in every single turn they take. Two strong, complex, yet also touching characters that are the major strength of this book.

Jacob Chance has outdone himself with Canvas. You will find everything you could possibly love about him but the pen he holds is firm, precise, yet steamy and from the first chapter, the infusion of passion and hunger is palpable. The way he's able to handle Josh's Alphanicessence (with a character so great, you need to reinvent words expressively to describe them) is impressive. He's the perfect book boyfriend and Elle is the perfect woman for him. So beautiful with her scars. Seeing her through Josh's eyes is pure beauty.

Jacob Chance is one of my favourite authors because his outstanding pen gives me the sweetest chills. Canvas is probably his greatest Work of Art. His words truly dance together and capture you within the first two sentences.

Canvas is more than a five stars book for me. It's a Rembrandt- A Chef d'œuvre! And its a five diamond work of Art.

Okay, Jacob Chance. You, sir, know how to write a sweet Romance.

Canvas is Josh and Elle's story..finally! If you have followed Jacob Chance from the beginning, we met Josh and Elle a long time ago, like Five or more books ago, back in Quake and Quiver. We saw the first inkling of Steamy times in Tied, with a kiss that was so HOT! It probably melted some panties and some hearts.

So here were are, about a year since then, graced with their story.
Canvas is a something special. J. Chance continues to impress me with these deep story-lines. Not only is there fantastic love-making scenes, but there is also these deep, emotionally driven action scenes, these intense climatic breakthroughs that have the reader biting their nails, thinking "OH, he better not do this to my heart!" and then he turns it around in the complete opposite direction, has me swooning like a damn 16 year old school girl with a crush.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one, as I have with every other Jacob Chance Book.
