- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 March 2017This book continues where The Pawn left us. Avery is now sleeping in a downtown cheap motel whilst she tries to win back everything that was taken from her father. The trouble is she is going up against Gabriel Miller, master game player. The guy who never loses. The secrets, twists and turns continue in The Knight... This series so far has been incredible, addictive and mind blowing.
Avery finds the diary of her dead mother and so sets off a chain of events in motion. Secrets, lies all start to spill out. We are still left waiting for the biggest secret of all to be revealed... How did her father lose the family fortune. We still know much about the father and this is going to be the pinnacle of the story as events begin to unfold.
I am actually starting to fall in love with Gabriel and this book sees a more caring side to him. He's not just the hard faced business man that every is scared of but respects. I just love the way Gabriel calls Avery "little virgin"; Gabriel is very cryptic in some of his responses to Avery. We know he is trying to protect her... but from what?!?
Some questions have been answered but there a still a whole more to come. With every answer comes another 2 or 3 questions. The suspense is actually killing me know. I am so desperate to read The Castle it's not even funny! You need to read this series!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 May 2024It's impressive book. It's thrilling sometimes and sweet also. But there also is lot of darkness and gloom. Even rooms there are mostly dimly lit or dark, or there is moonlight. It helps to create this sense of uneasiness and foreboding throughout all the book. So are the main characters, Avery and Gabriel, full of secrets and dark desires
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 July 2018In this book, Avery shows new strength and determination. She is no longer the society princess. She is a strong and independent woman, who is determined to stand on her own two feet, with her head held high.
Gabriel fights how he feels, but he still has an air of ruthlessness when it comes to Avery.
As pieces begin to fall into place, more revelations bring more questions and each answer only adds more confusion and deception.
The suspense never let up throughout the book. With each page, I was waiting with baited breath for answers.
I have enjoyed how these two characters have evolved and I cannot wait to see how their story ends in The Castle. Avery has grown into quite a formidable character, who is more than a match for Gabriel Miller.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 May 2017An excellent continuation to this thrilling trilogy the story follows on from the Pawn . With having lost everything Avery has ended up in a very seedy part of town trying to get her life back on track , it's a difficult task to do as it seems that everyone including her father has been keeping secrets from her the only one that has been honest with her is Gabriel Miller and unsurprisingly we see a strong relationship developing between them . The plot takes another dramatic twist near the end when she learns that her mother didn't die as a result of drunk driver but that she was murdered, and she is certain that she knows who killed her . Can't wait to see how this will end .
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 February 2017Avery is picking up the pieces after Gabriel pushes her away. While Avery tries to avoid Gabriel,he's always there tormenting her, making her want him.
We see Avery try to rescue her home at auction, somewhere she feels close to her mother, but what once was a fortress and castle for the fallen princess now might hide dark secrets.
Gabriel seems to be the dark Knight waiting to make his move to get his queen, but it seems Avery is still pretty much a pawn is this wicked game.
The Endgame series is totally enthralling it demands your attention and untimely you are drawn in to this dark and devious game. I love the interaction between Gabriel and Avery, you get to see the fire, passion and love and I cant wait for more.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 September 2018The second installment in Skye’s Endgame series picks up right where we left Avery & Gabriel, at the end of Pawn. Avery has left everything she had. Her pride. Her house. Her innocence. All at the hands of the same person: Gabriel Miller. After all the turmoil and mind games Avery desperately wants to never see Gabriel again. Or does she? Because she doesn’t actually get to spend much time on her own, before she misses the man she knows she should stay clear of.
We’ve all been in situations where knowing something, doesn’t mean you make wise choices. Which to me seems to be the theme of this book. Avery is like a moth drawn to the flame, and she can’t turn her back on Gabriel for good. As the story progresses we, as readers learn, that there’s a lot going on underneath the surface. And I have a feeling we’ve barely scratched said surface so far.
Just as with the first book, for every new thing Skye reveals, there’s at least just as many things that we do not know yet.
Overall I’d say that I did enjoy this second book. But I missed the many references to Greek Mythology, that Skye used in Pawn. There’s still some in this book, but not as many which means it does seem a bit like they’re just there to keep the theme going. As opposed to being as clever and awesome, as they were in the first book. The biggest reference we get here, is that Avery’s mom, Helen, was a beautiful as Helen of Troy. I mean, that part is just so overused by now. How many women are casually mentioned to be as beautiful as the woman that launched a thousand ships? This year alone, I think I’ve read at least 5 books where that’s used as a description of someones beauty. And personally, I think I’m just over it. Mostly because that kind of beauty should be unique. But it really isn’t anymore.
However, the real reason that the book has lost 1 heart rating, is because of the lack of originality and because of Avery. The more I read this book, the more it seemed like its inspired by the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. I know that the alpha male and innocent virgin concept isn’t exactly new, and I know it’ll be used many times again in the future. And I’m okay with that! But when there’s first a scene of Avery kneeling for Gabriel, after he commands her. And later on, where he kneels for her, after she commands him… well I just about thought I was reading about Christian Grey instead of Gabriel Miller.
I know there’s symbolism to be found in the surrender you display by kneeling, but still! The way it was done was a little too close for me to find it original, new or even different. But that’s not even the worst part. To me Avery becomes more of an indecisive cry baby in this book. She keeps blaming Gabriel for just about any and every ailment in the world. Even when she learns that there’s so much more going on, in her head she keeps reverting back to blaming him. For me that became too much and I felt like screaming: “make up your bloody mind”. Because all her backwards and forwards made me so impatient!
I know it by now must sound like I disliked the book. But I didn’t! And I’m still going to continue with the series!

Review:
The story got more interesting and it sure kept my intention but it still felt off between the two main characters. I felt like something was missing, but I don't know what. It's frustrating.
I do feel like they like each other but something is not really working for me. It's that I haven't seen them interact that much that would show me that they actually fell in love with each other. It almost felt random.
The underlying story is quite good. It really makes me want to rush through these books to see how it will end. I have a feeling but I want to know if I'm right.

Révélations, mise à nue et sentiments. On s'attache petit à petit à Gabriel même s'il reste un homme dangereux. J'ai hate d'entamer le 3ème livre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loving this series! Who's move is it now?
I am seriously loving this series! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time! Who is Gabriel Miller and what is he really after? This second book in the series was so intriguing and suspenseful and continued to keep me captivated.
Avery St. James is now on her own, broke and lost, but also determined to get back what she lost. We begin to see some strength in Avery as well, but she has hit rock bottom. Where does she go from here? She knows Gabriel is not to be trusted, but she can’t stop wanting him. And to make things worse, he is now even more cruel to her. And as Avery finally begins to get answers, more questions and secrets arise.
Gabriel Miller on the other hand, continues to be emotionless and callous at times. He is possessive and determined, however, we slowly start to see other sides of him. Sides that are confusing. Who is he and what does he really want?
In this second installment, I still loved to hate Gabriel, but he also won me over. He could be a bastard, but who does not love the bad guy sometimes? I loved seeing these two moving through all the pieces and how it affected them. Their chemistry continues to drip from the pages.
And now there are more players in the game. Who can be trusted? What does her mother have to do with any of this? Why is it so important to others to stop her from digging too deep? So much is woven into this story, we do not know which way is up.
I could not read this book fast enough and yet, I never wanted it to end. I was so consumed. This book was so twisted and filed with so much angst at every turn. I loved the writing. The chemistry. The added suspense. A great read. I cannot wait for the final book in this series.
I give The Knight by Skye Warren 4.5 stars.
Happy reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tolle Fortsetzung
