Tossing a middle finger to Macon, Georgia as I made my way to Nashville was always the dream. Sing country music, go on tour, top the charts—with my popularity growing every day, I was on my way.

But then a gust of wind blew up your skirt, and those white cotton panties had me hooked. I didn’t know your name, and you turned down every attempt I tried to throw your way. But I knew you were different, even though you told me I was the same.

“Friends” is what you offered, and I played by your rules, but, Adelaide Hatfield, you have to know, from that day, it was only you.

I just hope I can make you see how much you mean to me before we both drown in the sorrow of what heartbreak can truly be.

"Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations."

Oh Marie James! This author had me at the cover and not just because of its beautiful image but because of a music quote that I hold dearly: "Music is the rhythm of the soul." For me, music is LIFE, and there is no greater soul-clincher than country music. It's the music of love and loss...heart and heartbreak...and so much soul. Please take this Southern gal to Nashville now!

From the moving blurb alone, I knew Macon would move me and THAT IT DID!This romance is a country song of soul, a love ballad of heartache, happiness, and hope. Macon holds the heart of country music in its words as emotions explode everywhere like a song. Oh did my heart explode!

You will likely want to slap some sense into both the hero and heroine who will frustrate you to no end but then you'll want to applaud them too.

Axton Lane. That name alone melts panties. Hot. Country singer. Southern guy. Bad boy. Playboy. Panty-Melter.

Adelaide Hatfield. Beautiful. Bold. Smart. Prim and proper. Good gal.

It was nearly love at first sight or at least combustible chemistry at first encounter.

"Why do you always keep running away from me?"

His warm hand clasps my arm, and I spin toward him.

"Why do you keep chasing?"

This is one back-and-forth cat-and-mouse game that will have you ON EDGE, biting your nails, cursing the characters, and rooting for a love connection.

Her warmth, her taste...everything about her and this kiss is better than every time I've sank inside a woman.

This kiss?!? It speaks more than words can say. These words...just SWOON! Macon is so full of PASSION and PROMISE!

"You're playing with fire."

"Maybe I want to get burned."

"Never," he promises. "But I guarantee you'll feel my heat."

The chemistry between Addi and Axton is palpable; their connection is passionate. I could feel their fire spark through the pages...so intense!!! The chemistry may be combustible but their connection is life-changing.

"I don't expect perfect. I don't even want perfect. I just want you."

The push and pull are pure agony! This love story tugged at my heart, where it swung from swoon to sorrow, back and forth like a pendulum, where I felt everything!

"Are you afraid I'll break your heart?"

"No, Addi. I'm afraid I'll break yours."

Oh MACON!!! Marie James, what did you do to me?!? I LOVED Macon!!! This is no simple love story. Macon is MESSY LOVE, the kind that is a tornado that twists around your heart again and again, so agonizing yet so amazing!Macon is hard-fought love, one earned through a series of ups and downs ... happiness and heartache .... tenderness and turmoil. Macon is an ALL-OUT ANGST and ADRENALINE HIGH! The ULTIMATE ROLLER COASTER of a romance, Macon is a HEADY HARMONY with the highest highs and the lowest lows.

Heart-pounding and soul-searing, Macon pulls at the heartstrings, hitting all of the right notes! This book is a SLOW BURN that BLEEDS ANGST. This romance puts you through the ringer where you'll FEEL EVERY EMOTION ...EVERYTHING!!! Macon tears, tugs, and taunts your heart, and then slowly rebuilds it so it beats in happiness. The SWEETEST TORTURE, this is one touching tune I didn't want to end.❤️

"What I feel for you isn't something I'll ever get over."

I'm a big fan of this author's writing and was drawn into the story immediately.

Axton felt a pull of more than attraction from the moment he spotted Addi on the side of the road with car trouble. He can't get her off his mind and pursues her. But soon realizes that she is different and she is going to want more than a fling with a playboy rocker.

“Not knowing isn’t working out too well for you. If you want the girl, go get the girl.”

I loved Addi's relationship with her sisters, who were to me the highlights of this story! She has a great family who seem to judge and support in equal measure.

“The bright lights of stardom aren’t more than a dull spotlight these days,” he says, shoving his hands into the pockets of his ill-fitting jeans."

My biggest frustration with this story was what seemed to me like constant indecision by both main characters. I've heard this book described as a "push & pull" story, but there was so much push and pull I had whiplash!! Addi and Axton took turns either pushing each other away into the 'Friend-zone' or all out, need you right now, forever only you mode. I just kept wanting one of them to man-up or woman-up and make up their mind! But throughout I still loved and rooted for Addi & Axton to find their HEA!

Macon

4.5 Stars

I have only ever read Marie James's Cerberus MC series but I was really excited to get my hands on an early copy of Macon. The synopsis sounded like this was a book I would love and I have to admit I was addicted from the very start. I actually stayed up until 6am so I could finish this story.

This story was nothing like I expected it to be if I'm being honest, there was so much push and pull and I never knew what to expect out of these two characters. I think that was one of the things that I enjoyed most about this book, while there were times I got so pissed off at these characters for their actions and the stunts they pulled the fact that they never did what I expected them to was what kept me interested in their story.

Marie James sucked me straight into the middle of Macon county and I felt like I was living this right alongside Addie and Axton. I felt every single emotion that both of these characters felt, I laughed when they did, cried when they did and got so rip roaring mad when they did that I actually screamed at my phone more than once while reading this book! ( my husband thinks Ive lost my mind after this weekend lol)

Addie was this sweet, southern, beautiful girl who knew what she wanted and wasn't to be swayed off her path. She stuck to her guns and tried her best to fight the charm of Axton. There were times I thought Addie was a little bit harsh and unfair to Ax, she held him to a standard that at times wasn't attainable and reacted to some things that didn't deserve a reaction. Don't get me wrong I really liked Addie for the most part but there were a few times I wanted to shake her and tell her to wise up.

Axton is your typical playboy musician, he does what and who he wants and makes no apologise for that. After meeting Addie his outlook changes and while sometimes he didn't make the best decisions there were times he was downright stupid too.

The relationship between the three Hatfield sisters was hilarious to witness, they shared a bond that others only dream about having and I loved reading about them.

Overall I was enraptured with Addie and Axton's story. Marie James has quickly become an author I rave about and I can't wait to see where she is going to take us next with her amazing books! Addie and Axton will break your heart but it will also restore your faith in love and have you melting into a puddle when your done. Well done on another amazing story.

description
This book was brilliant and so well written and evoked so many emotions. This book broke my heart but in all the best ways.

I loved Axton in all his flawed greatness. He had all the elements I hope to see in my leading man. Humor, kindness, the ability to accept his need to change what should be changed, and of course those sexy protective tendencies.

Addi was the kind of girl that makes a guy want to be better. Specifically Axton. And I love that about her. She had a good head on her shoulders and she didn't allow anything to get between her and her goals. She was conflicted at times, but those moments were relatable and built a connection for me as a reader with the character.

I don't have enough or the right words to say how much I loved this story, but I will absolutely say it's one of Marie James' best works for me. It's going to stick with me for a long while. I am so happy to have read it and hope many others get to experience this wonderful story too.

Axton met the love of his life on a deserted road. One glance under her skirt as the wind blew it up around her shapely legs were all it took. She would change his life forever. Adelaine was the quiet country girl who was desperate to make a difference. She never counted on Axton, his lyrics spoke to her heart, and she was adamant he would live his dream sharing his music with others. He was driven by the need of her love, she was the only one who made him feel complete, without her he was lost. No one to provide guidance on how he could achieve his dreams and have her along beside him and sharing every moment together. Will Addy be by his side or step away as he achieves his dreams?

Macon by Marie James is one of my top favorite reads so far this year… I’d say top 5 Reads, to be honest. Marie James’ writing paints a story for you in words… it’s vivid and beautiful. James’s stories are unique. Her characters are so unique, so different that you can’t help but feel for them. Check out the playlist for this book! I don’t often do that with this book but I did with this book and it really added to it.

The characters are so perfect! I adore the Addi’s sisters. They have such a wonderful relationship, a relationship that I am quite jealous of. I’ve always longed for a family like Addi’s. Mandy is such a sweet sister and Renee is the bluntly, honest sister that tells you like it is. I loved it when they were all together and their quick-witted banter went back and forth.

Addi and Axton are what looks like complete opposites on the outside. However, their insides… their hearts, are pulling towards each other. They go through so much, mostly Axton tosses these obstacles in their way. Addi struggles with real and relatable issues. Axton wants nothing more than to be a big star, big dreams and big city! Things change one day on the side of the highway. I didn’t think there was any hope for anyone but James is incredible at weaving a story. A story of love and hope, of lies and deceit, of passion and self-identity. This is a beautiful story, everyone should read it!

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

I'm such a huge fan of Marie James she has written one of my favorite MC series so when I saw she was going into a different genre I was so excited to read and then the blurb and cover came and I was so hooked . Macon is very unexpected alot of things happen that was so surprising and sometimes the characters really frustrated me when certain things would happen and with the way Addie and Axton would react just know it's a kindle yelling kind of frustration . I really liked Addie but at times she was a bit harsh and quick to judge but over all she is a great heroine . Now Axton I still have no idea how I feel about him he kind of made me want to stop reading at times but I pushed myself and I'm happy that I did just wish there was more likable qualities about him . So excited to see whats to come for this author she always knows how to draw her readers in .

Beautifully told original story..

A small town and two young people with big but very different dreams…the author pulled me into this bittersweet romance right from the start….this is a heartfelt story filled with wonderful and fascinating characters living in a vividly described imagined world…

The main protagonists Axton and Addie are two contrasting individuals …he is an aspiring musician focused on finding success and living the lifestyle and she is a preachers daughter focused on studying hard and escaping the expectations of her family…… their unlikely relationship is without question a rocky one and at times I felt so frustrated by the two of them as they constantly misinterpret and misunderstand each others perspectives and feelings…when they do put aside the drama they may have their differences but together their chemistry is a wondrous thing to behold….the author has created such relatable characters for example Addie and her two sisters are awesome together their interactions are so believable full of sisterly good humour, advice and love…

This is an beautifully told original story with a fascinating cast of characters and at the centre two people whose emotional intelligence grows exponentially as they experience life together and apart on their roads to finding happiness….I received a copy of this book from the author and reviewed on behalf of Summer’s Eve Reads….

I'm a Marie James fan, so there was no doubt in my mind that I would be reading Macon. She has a real talent for creating a beautiful love story and she hasn't disappointed me yet.

Once I started reading, I was quickly drawn into Macon and the characters inhabiting it. This felt like the first book in a series, so I hope that we'll be seeing more from some of these characters (specifically Carson!). I did get a bit frustrated with the "I like you, but can't be with you because you're going to hurt me" thing that was the majority of their relationship. I really wanted Addi to just give Axton a chance and the more she didn't do that, the more I wanted to throw my kindle.

Ultimately, this was a book that I finished rather quickly and was left wanting just a little bit more. I hope that Carson and/or Mandy get a book.

I received an advance reader copy of this book that I have chosen to review.

A musician on the rise to stardom finds his road to stardom a little rocky when he falls for the preacher's daughter. I didn't know what to expect when I downloaded this one, but I liked the cover and the book blurb sounded a little different from what I've been reading. I took a chance. I enjoyed the game of push and pull between Axton and Addie.

A fun quick story by a new-to-me-author.

5 amazing stars

Finally i know why people are so hung up on Marie James' book! Until Macon, i hadn't had a chance to read her novels, but it sure as heck wasn't the first time i had seen her books in the various social networks i'm part of, such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Heck, even on Goodreads i'd peek at the reviews for her books and readers were simply taken in by her stories and how real her characters just fell.

4 breath taking dreams

Oh, there was the feels. The humor. The engaging story that made me want to keep reading even though my eyes kept closing and everything was way too fuzzy to see the difference between an 'a' and an 's'! these characters were the kind of people that had a little bit of everything that made me believe that they were real; someone i could meet at the corner of the street and start a conversation with them. Needless to say that i'll really be looking forward to finding out what else Marie James has to offer with any of her books - the previously and upcoming releases.

This book had me on the edge of my seat from the start to the finish, my anxiety levels were running at an all time high as Axton and Addi had my head spinning. Your emotions run all over as these two struggle with the attraction that they have to each other. Axton a typical bad boy who loves to sin and Addi the pure good girl who is letting her head rule over her heart. This story at times made me want to wish on a falling star to be able to jump inside this book and shake some sense into these two but mainly Addi. Axton stole my heart even though at times his actions made you want to kick his behind. This book is the ultimate love story of what one man will do to prove not only his love but his worth even if it means he may never get his forever. If you haven't put this on your list to read you need to do it now as I promise you this book will show you that love isn't perfect and doesn't always run smoothly but when you find that person that you need to breathe giving up is never an option.

It doesn't matter what time it is or what day of the week we are at because when I know that I have a new book from this author on my Kindle I can't start reading it fast enough. But let me give you an advise, do not, and I repeat, do not start a book written by this amazing lady at 10pm because you will not be able to sleep... Been there and done that. But totally worth it...
Marie James has a way with words that can make you blush in a sec or can make you cry. Once you start it you can't stop and will keep wanting more and more each time you flip a page. Trust me on this.
Macon is her latest release and tells the stories of Adelaine aka Addie and Axton.
Addie is a sweet girl with a very big heart. She's super talented and wants to graduate from College and be someone, even if she hadn't decided yet what she will do.
Axton is a sexy as hell guy that love his art. His goal is to get away from Macon and try his luck outside, spreading his lyrics into the world. But when he sees a beautiful lady on the side of the road he can't forget her.
So how can I talk about it without spoil?? It's hard but I'll try...
I'm in love with this characters and I want more. How can two different people find something in common? How?
The plot is intense and beautiful and the interaction between the characters is sweet, funny and hot sometimes. There is so much passion and so much emotion into this book that you'll get lost into the words.
We will get funny and sad moments that will make you happy or get really frustrated. Jesus... Despite they are so different they get along and that is priceless. Addi's interaction with her sisters is hilarious, the bond they where is intense and super strong.
Overall once I started to read this book I simply couldn't put it down. I couldn't and I didn't wanted to.
Oh Marie what are you doing to me? I hope you had already realized that you're creating a monster... Lol.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

When I found out MJ was writing a book with Sam Hunt as a muse, I jumped at the opportunity to read it! Macon her latest standalone that will have you wanting to pack up the pick up and head to the nearest field party.

Axton Lane has one goal, to get the hell out of Macon, Georgia and make it big singing to the masses. He's a playboy, he doesn't take school seriously, he relies on his best friend Carson to make sure all of his crap is in order. Life is good for Axton Lane, until one day he spots a "damsel in distress" on the side of the road.

Adelaide Rose Hatfield has goals too. To graduate from college. To be more than just the "pastor's wife" her parents want her to be. To plot out her own future. She may not know what exactly she wants that future to hold, but she's positive she doesn't need Axton Lane to be in it. Sure he's sexy, confident and has a voice that can make panties combust. But she knows that type, he's no different than any of the others.

This book has so much passion and emotion. Axton is a character with so much drive and focus, watching him struggle between his lifelong dream and the strange new feelings Addi is giving him was gut wrenching. Addi is a very relatable character. Who hasn't struggled over their feelings for the "bad boy"? She knows he's all wrong for her and yet she can't help be be drawn to the man she knows he is deep down.

I also have to say that the playlist is spot on! I've been obsessed with it for days! It is a great companion for the book.

Macon by Marie James
“A push and pull kinda story, 5 stars”

So, to be completely honest when this book came up for review I was riding passenger through Macon, it was like a sign. I didn’t read the blurb I just chose to review. Macon isn’t the typical love story that I go after. It had its hot moments but it also had moments of religion which I usually avoid. With that said though I enjoyed the story James wove for us. The religion was light and there was still heat so I was happy enough.
Axton is the typical musician. He has a bad boy edge and is just trying to make it. Doesn’t care about anything or anyone aside from his music. Until he sees Addie. Addie is the good girl, preacher’s daughter. She brings out the good in him and he brings out the naughty in him. They’re a great pair. When they are together everything is great, it’s when they are apart everything falls apart. Communication is the issue but throughout the story you watch them learn from their mistakes.
Honestly parts of this story reminded me of Sam Hunt and his wife’s love story. I don’t know if that was something James did intentionally but it worked.
Plot- 5/5
Heat- 5/5
Characters- 5/5
Writing style- 5/5
Overall- 5/5

Axton Lane first meets Adelaide Rose Hatfield as she's attempting to change a tire on the side of interstate. He pulls over to be a southern gentleman and offer her help. Addi being Addi blows off his offer for help until he informs her that her skirt is blowing up and everyone can see her white cotton panties.
After a few other chance meetings Axton realizes Addi is different from every other woman he's dealt with and absolutely will not fall at his feet. Meanwhile Addi realized that Axton is like every other male on the planet.
With dreams of being a country star with women in abundance and nothing out of reach, how long until you realize if you want for nothing you begin to want nothing? And with seeing the temptation Axton is surrounded by, can Addi learn to trust Axton and follow her heart and head?
This was such an amazingly sweet story. There is so much self-doubt and back and forth between these two I was screaming at my iPad at times. I absolutely fell in love with this book. I have read Marie James before, but this was a whole new side of her for me, and I can only hope we get more stories like this one. Five amazingly huge stars.

Marie James once again gives you a book that you will not be able to put down. This book gives you more than you anticipate while reading the blurb. Marie delivers just the right amount of angst, but also a couple who are completely opposite from one another. Alli and Ax are completely sweet together but what they must go through is heartbreaking.

The relationship started on the side of the road at least for Ax. Eventually, he broke Alli down and was able to grace her presence as a friend but that I all she would allow. The sexual tension between these two was always boiling but Alli is determined to protect her heart. But can she keep it protected all along the way or will he slip in before she can stop it?

Both these characters made me want to jump into the book and smack them both upside the head and shake them at the same time, wishing they would both just get their heads out of their asses. You will want to hate Axton so much because of the choices he makes but at the same time you want to yell at Alli for the way she responds to his choices. Their choices will have you questioning both of them together every step of the way.

An absolutely amazing very well written book by Marie. I had taken a break from reading her books. So glad that I grabbed this one to read. It was gripping from the beginning all the way to the end. There is just something about her books that bring you into the story and have you holding on to see what is going to happen by the end.I absolutely love the character chemistry between all of the characters.
Axton is an amazing very well written character. He is a singer who ends up falling for the girl but music becomes more important until he realizes that there is more to life. I absolutely love this storyline.Adelaide is a girl that is unsure of herself and unsure how to feel about Axton. But things comes full circle for both of them when they realize that life is right in front of them. I love these two together even when they werent together. I love how they fight for each other even when there are so many different mountains in front of them.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who will enjoy a love story with a kick. Again another very well written book by Marie. So glad I grabbed this one up and read it. I cant wait to read more by Marie

Marie James has a phenomenal way with words. Her writing style is unique with an individual flare depending the genre. One constant thing in all her books is that they always make you “feel” the words and emotions and Macon is no exception.

Macon is an amazingly heartfelt book with a cast of characters that you want to bop their heads one minute and the next you want to wrap them in your arms and hold them close. Axton is a rising country music star that drinks a lot, parties hard, and has girls falling at his feet; a total player (as in a different one night stand every night). That is until he meets Addi. She flips his world totally upside down. But Addi is no fool. She is a 21 year old College student who happens to be the preacher's daughter. She has no room in her life for guys like Axton and she certainly isn't going to be a notch in his bedpost. So despite the mutual attraction, they agree to just be friends. And thus the witty, wild ride begins (and trust me you’re gonna want to tag along).

This story will capture your heart and refuse to let go. What these two go through is breathtaking one minute and heartbreaking the next. It’s so wonderfully written that you’ll feel like you’re on this wildly romantic yet bumpy ride alongside Addi and Aston and it will have you turning page after page to find out what happens next.

I highly recommend this amazing story and it’s most definitely going in my 2017 top 10. 2 Thumbs Up!

Macon is an addictive love story that will have you hooked from the very beginning, desperate to find out where the story goes.

Axton is an up-and-coming musician, typical bad boy with a penchant for women. Addi is the good girl from a religious background, whose studies and education are her top priority.

From the moment they meet there is a mutual attraction between them that they both try to fight, determined to let the other live the life they each dream of.  There was plenty of to-ing and fro-ing in this story and there were times when I wanted to bang their heads together.....but I think that's what made it such a compelling read.

There is lots of emotion that will tug at your heart strings, you'll go from wanting to laugh, cry and scream at their stubbornness.

I absolutely loved the relationship between Addi and her sisters Renee and Mandy - I really hope Renee, in particular, gets her own story, she was downright hilarious at times!

Another fabulous read from Marie James!

I’m still in the process of figuring out my rating system. I didn’t hate this book but I didn’t like it either.

The two main characters aggravated me to no end. I found the story dragging at times and I skim read just to get the end.

All that being said it wasn’t horrible but just not for me.

Another great book by Marie. I loved Axton and all of his ‘quirks’. Your typical cocky guy who knows he’s good looking ands a singing voice to die for. Getting any women he wants.Except when it comes to Adelaide.

Being the daughter of a preacher sheeted to keep to herself, her studies being the main thing she focuses on. Never did she think she would become the obsession of the man she has stalked all over social media.

A story that shows you when true love is out there you will do anything to reach it.

I personally am hoping that Carson gets his own book.

I LOVED MACON! This book had me hooked..
Adelaide Hatfield (Addi) is your everyday sweet, head on her shoulders, knows what she wants from life type of girl.. She is going to college, and goes to church every Sunday, and she has the two best sisters a girl could ask for.
Axton Lane is a gorgeous up and coming musician.. has a voice to die for and can melt the panties off anyone.. Axtons one goal.. GET OUT OF MACON GA! That is till he see’s the white cotton panties (WCP) of the beautiful Addie Hatfield.
The attraction these two feel is immediate.. but Addi knows she needs to steer clear of the likes of Axton Lane. Axton is bound and determined to win her over, but when all she can offer is Friends.. he takes it.. FOR NOW.
The back and forth, Push and Pull with these two is great. I loved the side characters too. Carson (Astons bff) and of course Addie’s sisters..
Axton and Addi are amazing and I loved there story. Thank you Marie for the AMAZING book! Cant wait for more.

I was seriously hooked from the beginning of this book. I mean seriously, I love me a guritar player something fierce. There was just something about Axton from the beginning that made me pull for him. I love, love loved that the cocky bad boy musician got himself so worked up over an innocent and pure good girl. It was obvious he was taken with Addi from the beginning, and I enjoyed reading of his attempts to win her over, despite her stubborness when it came to him. This book seriously brought out ALL THE FEELS for me, and despite the emotional heartache that this book put me through, it is by far my favorite Marie James book to date!!! Definitely a must read. You will not be disappointed.

Marie James has done it to me again. She loves to take her readers on these emotional journeys, leaving us completely torn on where she will go next. Her books can suck you in and make you beg for more. This is probably one of my favorites. Just when you think things are smooth sailing she throws in another twist. This book is a beautiful love story with just enough naughty nature to keep you turning the page. I don't think I'll ever get enough of Marie's books. XOXO

I'll let you guys in on one of my secrets: I LOVE country music! It's my go-to homework/studying/general I'm-so-stressed-out music, because for some reason it always manages to calm me down. Therefore, when I caught wind that Marie James's Macon involved a rising country music signer falling in love, I was SOLD, saying 'gimme gimme!'

The result? Macon was a flirty & romance filled read; however, there were unfortunately some aspects that held me back from completely loving it.

Macon was told in the alternating POVs of Axton and Adelaide.

Axton was the typical troubled musician, tending to always focus more on the perks of fame - the women, the meaningless hook-ups, and the alcohol - rather than continuing to build up his career. I think the best phrase to describe Axton would be troubled and somewhat complex. One part of me really liked Axton. He was funny, charming, and just the right combination of sweet and sour. However, what held me back from completely loving him was how often he would put the "important" parts of his life - developing something with Adelaide, listening to his manger/best friend's advice with an open ear, and using his talent to make kick-a$$ music - on the back burner and instead focusing on destructive behavior. While Axton did come to have a new view and attitude on life by the end and redeem himself in most respects, it still was slightly frustrating to see this downward spiral occur as a reader.

Adelaide, on the other hand, is focused on being a serious student and a good daughter. It hasn't been easy for her to live up to her parents's wishes at times, especially since her dad is a pastor, but she's always tried her hardest. I liked Adelaide from the start. I found it easy to relate to her need to work hard, and I feel that anyone will be able to relate to conflict between making the people who love her proud while also making herself happy in the process. I also loved the sister dynamic she brought to the table. Watching Adelaide and her sisters interact was one of my favorite parts of the book - some parts of me wishes we would have seen more of them, especially regarding that one pivotal point/surprise in the book - but I was still happy with what we got. However, there was one thing that got on my nerves about Adelaide: her incredibly high expectations for Axton. Okay, I understood that she was afraid about him being a player (I mean, we've all been there before with a potential love interest) but you can't expect him not to pursue other women when you're not even dating him/talking to him and always telling him that it will never work and then proceed to get mad when you find out that he is...it just doesn't work that way!! Basically, it just made me incredibly frustrated at times...

The plot of this book mostly revolved around Adelaide and Axton's budding romance and their respective lives. I enjoyed how Marie gave us a little of both worlds: romance and character development not involving romance. The parts involving Axton's career always managed to gain my interest, and as I've said before, I loved seeing the dynamic that Adelaide's sisters and parents brought to the table, especially regarding her parent's "ideal man" for Adelaide. The romance in this was touch-and-go for me. Sometimes I really liked it, but other times, it left me feeling frustrated for some of the reasons I've discussed above. But overall, it had some good steam and some great moments of funny banter.

While Marie Jame's Macon brought about a few frustrations in me, I still liked it overall. The country music angle was again fun, and for the most part, I could usually get past the characters more frustrating habits/characteristics.

And for the timeless question? Will I check out this author's books again? Yes, definitely!
