Free Me (Found Duet Book 1) Kindle Edition
I wasn’t supposed to be working the night I met JC.
Before him, I’d been content with the daily grind, managing one of NYC’s top nightclubs. So what if my life didn’t have a happily ever after? I didn’t believe in that anyway.
Then JC showed up.
Sexy, rich and smooth-talking, JC is nothing more than a distraction. I’m not interested in a night-in-shining latex so it’s easy to push the playboy away. Or it is until my life spins unexpectedly out-of-control. Then he’s there for me, offering a new method of survival, one based on following primal urges and desires that requires me to abandon my constant need for control.
His no-strings-attached lessons obliterate my carefully built walls. And as I discover freedom, I start to feel things for him that I shouldn’t. Things that make me fear for my newly vulnerable heart. Because JC has secrets of his own, and his secrets don’t want to set him free.

About the author

With millions of books sold worldwide, Laurelin Paige is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestselling Author. She is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Game of Thrones or Letterkenny, or dreaming of Michael Fassbender. She's also a proud member of Mensa International though she doesn't do anything with the organization except use it as material for her bio. She is represented by Rebecca Friedman.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 January 2015Oh yes this was fantastic, you get that same feeling reading Free Me as you did reading the Fixed Trilogy, all the secrets and the general feel of anticipation are very apparent.
I found myself thinking back because Gwen was mentioned towards the end and we knew she came to work for The Sky launch but we didn't know the real reason why, I thought it was all very cleverly written and laid out, the timing etc, and all this with Gwen and JC was before Fixed..
Laurelin Page has this wonderful gift with being able to portray with such ease the natural flow and chemistry between Gwen and JC almost every conversation they had with each other came across so real, the scene at the Market for instance was just brilliant.
You could feel it all bubbling under the surface and you are desperately trying to work things out, wondering what it is with JC, your certainly kept on your toes that's for sure.!
There are lots of stand out moments and as the story came to an end I couldn't help feeling so disappointed not in a bad way but because I just wanted them to be with each other, they hadn't even exchanged names or numbers, I was going mad, anyway the invertible happened and with Gwen back home and ready to start at The Sky Launch and you realise then the situation between Alayna and Norma was still tense because it was still at the stage were I'm sure there were still issues and misunderstanding going on between Hudson and Alayna, the story lines were colliding beautifully and everything fell into place, absolutely brilliant.!!
All I can say is JC better come back and Gwen better be waiting for him but I'm sure things will not go as smoothly as we as we are hoping.
Please hurry with Find Me, I need to know..
Thank you for another great series ..!!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 April 2015'I knew better than to settle into the comfort of predictable. It was more important to be prepared. I should have been prepared. But nothing could have prepared me for JC.'
I'm going to prefix this by saying that I haven't read the Fixed Trilogy, but I didn't feel I missed anything of relevance in conjunction to this story.
Gwen Anders is nothing but a tight-ass, boxed in New York City Nightclub manager who exists for routine. Her past thwart with bad memories and heartache. The only way forward with her heart intact is by keeping others at a safe and comfortable distance. Sex was always that, a series of hook-up's and even then, its been a good 3 years.
Managing a prestigious club in the big apple is the one thing she is good at, and reprimanding those not playing by the rules, a gift... until she meets the club's Tuesday night weekly VIP resident, JC.
JC, along with a few friends embrace the open ness of the private room where they can smoke, drink, play poker and enjoy the half clad of the female kind scenery. Gwen on the other hand is shocked at the display and after asking for their compliance in toning it down is offered something more tempting in return.
JC is intrigued by the pretty busty blond in the suit. Her stiff upper lip may fool others, but the emptiness in her eyes hold a myriad of secrets and pain, ones only he can expel.
One night a week is his promise, and he's right, it is all it takes to make the pretty girl fly out of the box, but they both didn't count on their hearts joining the fray...
Gwen and JC are polar opposites. Whereas JC is dark, brooding, sexy and highly mysterious, Gwen prefers to remain uptight and hidden. I enjoyed the dynamics of their 'no commitment, no ties,' agreement (for it is not a relationship), but I found that it was a long time coming in terms of character connection. I didn't feel like I could connect with Gwen at all. She came across aloof and cold. Distant and winey. But I appreciated the manifestation of what JC and Gwen were to finally become, it just felt a long time coming.
When I think back on this story, it is quite a long read but not much seemed to happen. I didn't feel the angst. I didn't quite believe the love, and I couldn't get my head around the events towards the end. I was like... what? JC's new proposal came so out of left field it was on a different pitch.
I enjoyed elements of this story, but I admit I found it a little hard work at times too.
Will I read book 2? Maybe. If anything I'm intrigued to see if they both keep their promise.
3.5 Crowns
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 January 2015I absolutely loved the Fixed trilogy and Hudson so when I found out this spin off series was coming out I was super excited to see where Laurelin would take me with this series and I was very eager to get into Free Me.
I wasn't at all disappointed when I started reading Free Me. You remember Gwen from the Fixed Series from when she comes to work at the Sky Launch with Alayna and her sister Norma works for Hudson. That's about all you get from Fixed but that opens the door for Free Me. At the beginning of Free Me, Gwen comes across as a very strong, independent woman that is cold and closed off from her emotions, which she has learned to hide extremely well due to her past and troubled childhood, but is happy with her life as it is with her only real relationship being with her sister Norma who she lives with. Enter JC.... After swapping a shift with a colleague to a night she never normally works she meets Mr Tall, Dark and Mysterious and there the story really begins....
This is a sizzling story and from the moment JC makes Gwen an offer she can't refuse, it gets hotter and more mysterious the further into the book you venture. I absolutely love Gwen and watching her learn to live with emotions in her life again. JC teaches Gwen many things throughout their arrangement and slowly you see her lower her walls.
This book had me totally hooked from the beginning and I loved stepping back into the Fixed world only this time through Gwens eyes. There is so much heat and chemistry in this book that I am surprised I didn't get burnt while reading it!! But there is also drama and secrets and so much more along the way. I can not wait for the next instalment as I can't wait to find out what happens next after THAT ending!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Recomendadissimo! Serio! Apaixonante...
#3.1 Hudson
---- SpinOff de "Fixed": "The Found Duet" (apenas em inglês):
#1 Free Me
#2 Find Me

Vou tentar resumir pra vc:
Nossa mocinha (narradora) eh a Gwen.
Eis o titulo do livro "FREE ME".

5.0 out of 5 stars Gwen and JC = <3
Let me point out one thing first: I love Laurelin Paige's stories! "Free Me" was no different. I read this book in one day just cause I couldn't bring myself to put it down. It was heart wrenching at some points and very erotic and hot at others. Paige has some magic ability to capture my interest and an absolutly stunning way of telling a story and writing sex scenes :D
There is not one thing I'd change regarding Gwen and JC's story so far and I am really looking forward to the next "The Found Duet Book"!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing story with even better characters :)
I loved Alayna and Hudson and their story and that's how I fell in love with Laurelin Paige's writing and her stories. And Free Me was definitely not a disappointment. In a way if was even better than the Fixed Trilogy. The story is intriguing and entertaining, filled with hotness and sometimes humor and peppered with danger and excitement. It kept me on my toes until the very last word and after I finished, I just wanted more of JC and Gwen. The story was only made even more interesting by the unexpected twists in it. It just kept me guessing till the last moment and I can honestly say that I still haven't figured out everything that's going on. Which I must say doesn't happen often.
JC and Gwen are quite interesting characters. They are both broken due to traumatic experiences in their past. And they both chose to close themselves from the world and save themselves the hurt of a heartbreak. The moment they meet, the attraction between them is simply undeniable and none of them can resist it for long. They are sizzling hot together and simply explosive in bed. So the no-strings attached relationship is not a surprise. The problem is that their relationship doesn't stay that way. In each other they find a deeper understanding and without even realizing it, their feelings get deeper. In a way, they are perfect for each other.
And just when they finally find the peace they are looking for, both their pasts come chasing them. In Gwen's case, that's the nightmare she lived through as a child. In JC's case, his whole past is covered in secrets and shadows, With every secret he reveals, there are just more questions popping up. And let me tell you, even if you manage to guess some of the secrets, you will be still quite surprised by the rest. The only thing is that the book finished with such a cliffhanger, that I am dying to get my hands on the next one. If all that is not enough for you to pick up Free Me, keep in mind that JC is one hot dominant alpha male with a broken heart and soul. He is also romantic and tender and simply a god in bed. And who doesn't love a broken bad boy with a chance for redemption.
So if you ask my opinion, this is definitely a must read. The story will intrigue you from the first sentence and simply keep you on your toes until the last word. I am pretty sure that you will love Gwen and JC and you will also get the chance to meet Norma, Hudson and Alayna again. The book is intriguing and it has romance, tenderness, humor, danger and excitement. So get your #oneclick finger working and pick a copy. And I know I usually don't end up my reviews with quotes but there is one in this book that simply got stuck with me. So I decided to share it :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Profoundly emotional
Both the first book (the one called Free Me) and the bonus novel are well thought out and portray personalities with deep emotional issues, although the book 1 is definitely not finished, and really almost makes buying the second book a necessity. The bonus novel is complete, and fills in a blank space of the first part while never actually using any part or main character from Free Me.
Very involving.
