    Ashlyn and Ryder, what a couple, and what a story. This story goes in so many directions, it has love, heartbreak, revenge, and a myriad of other emotions. I read the first book, but skipped the second because it wasn’t the conclusion to Ashlyn and Ryder’s story. Book 2 is Becca’s story. I couldn’t wait, so I skipped to the third book to finish their story and I’m so glad I did, it was Awesome. I definitely recommend their story. Just a heads up though, if you don’t like explicit sex, then these books aren’t for you.

    I had been in a book funk going into this book so had high hopes for Selfish as Shantel is one of my favorite authors. She yet again did not disappoint. I absolutely loved these characters in this book! Ashlyn's character is so feisty and strong and I love that it makes her unique compared to other female characters in romance novels. She's guarded and maybe even a little irrational in her thoughts but that's what makes her work. Then you add in Ryder who at first appears to be just a playboy but you quickly learn he is so much more than that. He is gentle and rough all at the same time and that made for the perfect pairing between these two!

    On top of that you can feel an amazing story brewing on the side between Becca and Jaycent and I can't wait to see where Shantel takes us with that!!!

    This book does have a cliffy and let me tell you it is one that is going to leave your jaw on the ground but I personally love that! I love the anticipation of what is to come next and it gives me something to look forward to! I can not wait to see where Shantel takes this book but I have no doubt that book two will be just as amazing as book one!!!

    If you're looking for a steamy and hot romance, then you need to pick up Selfish by Shantel Tessier today!

    When Ashlyn and Becca take one last hurrah after graduating college to Panama City before heading off to New York City to start their lives, Ashlyn wasn't looking for romance, she was just looking for a little fun, and she never expected to fall into bed with Becca's older brother Ryder, or for them to have a connection. Ashlyn has rules for the night they spent together and she had no clue that "Ry" was who he was, so when she finds out the next morning that he's Becca's older brother there to surprise her for their trip, she's in shock and can't get away from him soon enough. Ryder on the other hand, who's usually the one being chased, is doing all the chasing in this book. He's intrigued by Ashlyn and can't get enough of her.

    With Ashlyn confused on how she feels about Ryder, and Ryder knowing exactly what he wants, this book is definitely interesting, throw in a complicated friendship with her best friend Bradley, and dealing with Becca and her awful boyfriend Connor and this book is a roller coaster. I wanted Ashlyn to see what she had in front of her with Ryder, but she was stubborn and scared, and it seemed every time she was willing to take a chance, something or someone would step in the way and scare her off. These two have the chemistry, the attraction, and everything to be perfect for one another. Ryder treats her like a queen and understands her like no one else. The fact that she's not a money grabber and could care less about Becca and Ryder's money is refreshing to Ryder, and how much she loves his sister is something he adores.

    As much as I wanted to strangle Ashlyn many times in this book, I did understand her fear. She wants that love that is all consuming, but she's afraid to let herself have it, and doesn't see it's sitting right there in front of her. She's comfortable with what she has, and it's not until she loses it that she realizes what she has. This book had me on the edge of my seat throughout this entire book with the "will they or won't they" theme, and the hot sex scenes were exactly that HOT! Ashlyn and Ryder are amazing together, but the ending nearly killed me! I am definitely looking forward to diving right into Myself to read Becca's story and I can't wait to read Selfless to see what happens next with Ashlyn and Ryder. I definitely recommend reading Selfish as it is angsty, full of laughs, and steam!

    This is the first book I've read by Shantel Tessier and even though it's a cliffy it's well worth the read. You can't be mad at a book that's so good, you stay up til all of hours of the night because you can't put it down. It gives you all the feels, and it's so well written it will pull at all your emotions.

    Yes, it ends in a cliffhanger. Yes you'll have to wait until the 3rd book to wrap everything up. Unless you wanna skip book 2 in this series that's about Becca (Ashlyn's BFF) and Jaycent (Becca's brother Ryder's best friend). But why would you when you also get to see what Ashlyn and Ryder's story looked like through their eyes as you get to read how their story came to be. I wouldn't...But maybe that's just me. I liked this book so much I'm off to buy book 2 so I can read about Becca and Jaycent's story. Cause I can't wait to hear what Shantel has in store for them.

    Just get this book and start your journey with this group of friends. I haven't read the other books in the series, but if they're written as good as this one, I don't think I'm gonna be disappointed!

    I have to say I'm a big fan of Shantel Tessier's, I've read almost all of her books and pretty much know what to expect when reading one well I thought I knew ... until Selfish. I thought I knew how I was going to rate and review this book but I did not see this book coming... its far darker than her other reads and the BDSM is a big part of it.
    While I really loved this author's "UN" series, it had strong female leads and alpha (yet still Romantic) male leads this book quite was not in the same vain - unfortunately, I had to force myself to continue to read it at times as the writing is a little repetitive and at times the plot quite conflicted and when I realised it was a cliffhanger I was GAH!
    As the story went on, I absolutely adored Ryder, but I kept smacking my head with some of the reactions and situations Ashlyn found herself in. Ashlyn thinks like a woman who has never been shown love; Ryder, who hasn't seen love from his parents, wears his emotions on his sleeve.
    Ashlyn is quite frankly a bit too loose for me. I am all for women's sexuality but this author really overdoes her sleeping around. This was balanced by the fact I loved Ryder. I thought Ryder was sweet, kind, caring, and charming you could see how much he cared.
    While I did enjoy this book in parts, I really have no idea how to rate it or not give away any spoilers BUT I do want to warn that I wish I had known this book was going to end in a cliffhanger - there's too much unresolved. 3.5 Stars

    Oh my goodness Shantel Tessier has done it to us again... I need the 2nd book Selfless now.!
    Why do I always feel nervous about the ending of every story from this author, that's how I felt this time and I hadn't even finished the first chapter, it's because of what she has done previously with all her endings, whether it be the a shock that is totally heartbreaking, a twist that makes you think one thing when it's actually another and then having to wait for the next book or just the shear anticipation of the outcombe.
    The first couple of chapters we are introduced to most of the characters some more important than others but they all play a part regardless. As we get half way through chapter 3 its the start of the vacation in Florida for Ashlyn, Becca and Conner and Ryder and Jaycen, this is where the story starts to take hold, you know it's going to be brilliant because Ashlyn has already attracted your attention with her fabulous personality and her kick ass attitude and she hasn't even met Ryder yet.
    While contanplating Ashlyn we have Conner to contend with and it doesn't take you long before you have him worked out... there's always one and he's it!
    Everything's forgotten about once Ryder comes on the scene, together with Ashlyn they are quite the pair vying for each other's attention in equal measures.
    At this stage we have no idea what this story has in store for us, we can only speculate and once Ashlyn and Ryder begin to form a relationship of sorts we have to wonder about Bradley who sort of gets forgotten about he might be back in Seattle but he's there all the same and you know that somewhere down the line he's going to pop up. Ashlyn really should have put him in the picture and told him about Ryder but she never thought she needed to and so it ended back firing on her, she never saw it all happening the way it did... miss understandings to say the least and before you know it Ashlyn has lost Ryder and Bradley. At this point I was more worried about Ryder because let's face it the way he stormed off in a rage and drove away in his Escalade that was my main concern not worrying to much about Ashlyn's state of mind but it looks very much like I should have... oh my goodness and this is what I'm on about Shantel Tessier doing what she does best creating turmoil.! And let's not ignore Becca and Jaycen while we're at it I was waiting for Ryder to find out but it looks like we'll be waiting some more.!
    Dispite everything that goes on throughout this fabulous storyline it is a beautiful love story.!
