Publisher Description
Tom London has done a pretty damn good job. Despite an illness that stole his young wife years ago, he’s raised his biological son, and several adopted ones, to be fine men. The Hot Rods might be unconventional, but they’re hardworking, hard-playing, and hard-loving. Tom couldn’t ask for anything more—except perhaps an equally fierce love of his own. And he’s got his eye on a luscious candidate. Ms. Wilhelmina Brown, a longtime widow with more than enough sass in her step to take him on.
Willie has a lot in common with Tom. She’s raised two wonderful daughters, both now married into the Hot Rods family, and lived through her own tragedy, having lost her husband in a horrific accident. More than two decades later, she and Tom still live with the ghosts of their pasts, but she’d have to be dead herself not to feel the man’s effect on her libido. They already share a mutual respect; perhaps they can each be what the other needs in more tangible ways…
As Tom and Willie take one step closer, an explosive revelation shoots them several steps back. But that bombshell turns out to be just a precursor to something potentially worse…potentially deadly…and potentially enough to keep the mature lovers apart forever.

"Somethings are worth the wait "
After twenty-one years of raising her daughters alone following the tragic loss of her husband, Wilhelmina Brown begins to suspect the possibility of peace and just maybe a sliver of happiness for her. Recently both of her daughters have found their soul mates and their happily ever after. Heck one of them just made her a grandma with the arrival of a beautiful baby girl. Along the road to her daughters settling down Willie has met and found a best friend in Tom London. Lately it seems to her there may be more than just friendship brewing. Oh who is she kidding there is a blaze of fire burning bright between them but can Willie let go of the past and take a chance at love again after all this years?
Tom London lost his lovely wife way too soon. Tom kept her memory alive as a social worker and by keeping her foundation going while raising their son and taking in seven adopted kids. The kids, “The Hot Rods” have each found their significant other(s) and Tom feels he is ready to move on as well. Willie and him have bonded over their kids, the loss of their spouses too soon and have formed a deep friendship. Tom has decided it’s time to quit stepping around the building fire between Willie and himself and take action. Just when it looks like they may find their HEA life has a few more curve balls for them.
The first line in Long Time Coming, Hot Rods Book 8 says it best “Some things are worth the wait”. I’ve devoured the first seven Hot Rods books with great satisfaction, all the while hoping for Tom to get his HEA. As a forty-something mother to four grown kids, one granddaughter and grandbaby number two on the way, I identify with Tom and Willie. I applaud author Jayne Rylon for taking a chance and writing a story where both the hero and heroine are older than most romance novels. Not to mention Mrs. Rylon doesn’t hold back in the sex scenes just because neither is in their twenties.
Long Time Coming is filled with passion and fervor. The story line has more twists and turns than I had expected. Author Rylon keeps you guessing right until the end. I recommend this book to those who are looking for a hot, suspenseful read.
I was given an Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review.
